A prayer for good thinking – Philippians 4:8-9

Spirit of God, guide my thoughts this day:

to that which is true about you and me and the world,

to that which is honorable to you,

to that which is pure in your eyes,

to that which is pleasing to you and to the deepest longings of human hearts,

to that which is commendable and excellent,

to that which is worthy of prayer,

So that my thoughts are good thoughts, holy thoughts, and Godly thoughts and that such thinking will issue forth good fruit in character and action and your peace will be with me through and through… Amen.

Prayer for “grace speech”

“Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that you words may give grace to those who hear.  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.  Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ, has forgiven you.” – Ephesians 4:29-32 (NRSV)

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord.

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord, our God.

Let no evil talk come from our mouths, but only what is useful for building up others, only what they really need to recieve Your grace.

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord, our God.

Create in us a heart that issues forth in grace speech.

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord.

Let our speech bring grace to all people and never grieve your Holy Spirit.

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord, and renew a right spirit in us.

Create in us a clean heart:  free from bitterness, wrath and anger; free from grumbling, complaining, and ill-will toward one another.

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord, and renew our speech.

Create in us a clean heart; a kind heart, a tender heart, a forgiving heart.

Create in us a clean heart, O Lord, and let our heart be a well flowing with fresh and life-giving “grace speech.”

      Amen.
