SILENT PRAYERS: Prayers of the People

RESPONSIVE PRAYER OF CONFESSION:  Pastors

Pastor/Leader:    Lord Jesus, in the silence you have brought to our minds and hearts our actions and words that have hurt, discouraged and impacted the lives of others.  Give us courage to take the prompting of your Holy Spirit seriously today and to take action to confess and seek reconciliation with those whom you have directed us to.

PEOPLE:  We come to you, our Savior, to confess our sin and seek your peace.

Pastor:    We have sinned, Lord.  We have wounded You by our actions, our thoughts, and our failures to act according to Your will. We have given into the flesh, the world, and the devil.

PEOPLE:  We come to you, our Savior, to confess our sin and seek your peace.

Pastor:    Our sins are many, our weaknesses inevitable.  We have broken your commandments.  We have not worshipped, as we ought.  We have not listened to Your Word.  We have denied you when confronted with our society’s norms of behavior.  We have ignored you, O God.

PEOPLE:  We come to you, our Savior, to confess our sin and seek your peace.

Pastor:   We have acted spitefully to friends and strangers.  We have fought with our family.  We have been impatient with those less capable than ourselves.  We have sought to be over others at work, school, home, and church.  We have spoken evil of others.

PEOPLE:  We come to you, our Savior, to confess our sin and seek your peace.

Pastor:    We have neglected charitable work.  We have neglected the hungry, the sick, the poor, the abused child, the imprisoned.  We have not hugged the sorrowing and the lonely.  We have not gone out of our way for those in need.  We have not forgiven those who hurt us.  We have not loved as You have called us to.

PEOPLE:  We come to you, our Savior, to confess our sin and seek your peace.
